Devlog 11: Soup-er polish


Hey everyone! Week 11 marks the beginning of our polish phase, and we’re starting to smooth out all the edges as we head into the final stretch. Animations are in, the lobby’s looking alive, and the game is nearly done! Let’s break it down:


Art

  • Added ants to the environment
  • Enhanced ghost pepper FX with more particles
  • Added team colors for players and UI elements
  • Decorated and detailed the lobby scene
  • Created a stinky cloud FX
  • Added details to the mushroom mesh
  • Created UI arrows for utensil selection
  • Designed team-colored guide buttons
  • Made a new menu start button
  • Created and implemented wind VFX
  • Finalized and implemented all base animations: run, hit, scoop, and stun


Programming

Implemented team-specific buttons for:

  • Cleaning
  • Stirring
  • Picking up the bowl
  • Bouncing now triggers when players hit each other, not just ingredients
  • Added a start button that activates when at least one player is present
  • Tweaked utensil dirtiness values
  • Added trigger support and animation hooks
  • Guide arrows and player textures now reflect the player’s team
  • Adjusted countdown timer from 5 seconds to 3


Sound

  • Updated the music manager for lobby and main game
  • Balanced audio levels across gameplay
  • Investigated and adjusted animation-related audio issues
  • Tweaked sounds based on team feedback
  • Added and implemented
  • Game end and new game start sounds
  • Cabinet opening sound
  • Footsteps
  • Van sounds
  • All-around polish and fixes
